How to Erase Windows Password When You Forgot It

I gave my father my old HP computer. He tried to set it up. I thought that I erased the need for a password, but it keeps asking for a password. I know repair workers can bypass and erase passwords. How can I do this to allow my father access to my old computer?

You’ve probably landed on this page while looking to find out how to erase Windows password. Whether you’ve simply forgotten your password, or you want to help your friends or colleagues to erase Windows password, I’m going to show you a really easy way to help you erase Windows password when you forgot it.

You only need to create a Windows password reset disk, then use it to boot your locked computer and it can help you erase Windows password in just a few mouse clicks! Let’s go on the detail steps:

Step 1: Create a Windows Password Reset Disk

  1. To prepare for the password-erasing procedure, you need another computer to connect to the Internet, download the Reset Windows Password utility.
  2. Unzip the download file which contains an ISO image file: ResetWindowsPwd.iso.
  3. Next, burn the ISO image to a CD/DVD or USB flash drive with ISO2Disc software. A Windows password reset disk will be ready in one or two minutes.

Step 2: Boot Your Locked PC from the Password Reset Disk

  1. Now that you’ve prepared the Windows password reset disk, go to the computer for which you have forgotten the password.
  2. Insert the Windows password reset disk and turn on the computer.
  3. When it is powered on, check the boot-screen for setup key (i.e. DELETE key, F8 key, F2 key) to enter BIOS Setup Utility.
  4. Change its BIOS settings to make it try to boot from the CD or USB first.

Step 3: Erase Windows Password

  1. Once you have configured the BIOS correctly, your computer will boot from the Windows password reset disk.
  2. After a while, the boot disk will launch the Reset Windows Password program.
  3. Choose the SAM registry hive from the list, the program will display a list of Windows user accounts on the computer.
  4. Select the user account whose password you want erase, then click Reset Password button.
  5. It will erase the forgotten Windows password in no time.

Now you are done! Remove the Windows password reset disk and restart the computer. It should start as usual now, displaying the Windows logo, and finally showing the Windows login screen. Just click on your login icon (if it asks for a password, leave it blank) and you should enter Windows without the password! Now you can open Windows Control Panel to create a new password for your account. Take care to remember it this time, or you would have to go through this procedure again.

How to Recover Wireless Password on Windows 8, 7

I have a home wireless network and forgot my wireless password. My computer will still connect to the network, but I want to set up additional computers. Using the computer that is already set up and connected, can I somehow figure out what the wireless password is? Some detailed instruction would be helpful.

Now I am going to show you how to recover Wireless password without using any software. In Windows 7/8, it becomes much more easier to recover a lost Wireless password. How to Recover Wireless Password on Windows 8, 7:

  1. To recover your wireless password we need to get to the settings for your network adapter, so press the Win + R keyboard combination and type ncpa.cpl in the run box, then hit the enter key.

  2. You will now see all the network adapters in your machine, right-click on the wireless one and select Status from the context menu.
  3. When the Wi-Fi Status dialog loads up, click on the Wireless Propertiesbutton.

  4. Then you will need to switch over to the Security tab. Finally, check the Show characterscheckbox to reveal your password.

I have a local install of SQL Server Express that I haven’t touched in months. Now I need to use it, and I’ve forgotten the SA password. I have tried using SQL Server Management Studio, I have done Single User Mode with SQL Server and used sqlcmd, they all tell me I don’t have permissions for it. I’m afraid that even reinstalling SQL Server Express isn’t going to fix this for me. Does anyone know of any other method to reset the SA password?

How to Remove Windows 7 Password in A Short Time

How to Restore Windows Password with Ease

The best and easiest way is to restore your forgotten Windows password. To begin, you need to create a Windows password reset CD on another accessible computer, then boot your locked computer from the CD so you can restore Windows password easily.

How to Restore Windows Password with Ease:

  1. Download the Reset Windows Password utility from this link: http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html. Unzip the download file. After you unzip it, there is an ISO image file: ResetWindowsPwd.iso, which is what you need to burn.

How to Change Windows 7 Logon Screen

Ever wanted to change the default background of the Windows 7 logon screen? It is easier than you might imagine. While there are loads of 3rd party tools out there that will do this, and more, we’ve got a nice technique that won’t require you to install any additional software at all.

All you have to do is change a single registry value and put an image file in the correct location. You can set any image you like as your logon screen. To change Windows 7 logon screen, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable Custom Backgrounds

Firstly, to enable the background of the logon screen to be changed, we need to make a change in the registry editor. Click your Start button and type in regedit and press enter.

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background

Here you’ll hopefully see an DWORD value named OEMBackground. If it isn’t there then you’ll need to create it – right-click in the right hand pane and choose New. Create a new DWORD value and call it OEMBackground.

Double click on the DWORD and set its value to 1.

Step 2: Select A Background Image

Windows will look for your background image in C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds – by default the info folder won’t exist, so create it inside of the oobe folder, open it up and then create a backgrounds folder. Place the image that you want to have as the background inside of here. For best results try to use an image which is the same size as your screen resolution so that it doesn’t get stretched or distorted. It is important to note that the maximum allowed size of the image is 256kb.

That’s all there is to it – the image will be the background for the logon screen with immediate effect, you don’t even need to restart your computer. If you are following the steps while reading this then press the Windows logo key+L to lock your screen and you’ll see the background image is the one you have selected.
